• Located just outside of the 10-Loop you will find a neighborhood named Cedar Creek.  Athens, GA homes for sale can be found within this great example of one of Athens' classic neighborhoods.  The residents of Athens typically utilize "east" or "west" when referring to locations.  As an example, Cedar Creek is on the "east side."  From one of the entrances to the neighborhood, the trip to the UGA Arch downtown is about 6.4 miles or roughly a 15 minute drive depending on traffic.

Amenities & Schools

• Within the neighborhood, you will find the Cedar Creek Pool.  Membership is optional and reasonably priced.  Although there is no swim team, swim lessons are available, private parties can be scheduled for a fee, life guards are on site, and the pool itself is a "salt water" pool.  A large number of restaurants can be found just outside of the neighborhood all along Gaines School Road.  Grocery shopping is also close, and a super Wal-Mart is easy to access.  The edge of Southeast Clarke Park is located at one of the rear entrances to the neighborhood.  There you will find the Athens Clarke County Tennis Center, World of Wonder Playground, Skate Park of Athens, and popular with dog lovers, "Wiggly Field!"

• Cedar Creek is a large neighborhood consisting of nearly 700 homes.  Most of the construction took place in the 1960's and 1970's; however, a significant portion of building continued into the 1980's with a smaller amount occurring in the 1990's with just a few homes built in the early 2000's.  The neighborhood is a popular east side community and residents are often actively involved in the community through the Cedar Creek Civic Association.  Technically speaking, this is not an HOA.  Dues are voluntary but appreciated as they are go toward defraying expenses.  The ultimate goal is to help maintain or increase property values within the neighborhood.  A side benefit is a more enjoyable experience as a home owner living in Cedar Creek.
  
  
• As in most large neighborhoods, a large variety of homes can be found.  Home sizes also vary considerably, ranging from around 1,600 to over 4,000 square feet.  As with many of the "classic" neighborhoods, it is possible to find homes that have been completely renovated.  That means you can get the best of all worlds when you live in Cedar Creek...a great location in one of Athens popular neighborhoods and a modern home with all of the updated amenities.  Or, if you find a home that has great bones, you can make it your own by updating according to your tastes.
